I'd love to work with you
Someone offered to help without showing they'd read what I sent. One detail would have been enough. Which makes it stranger when it's missing.
"I'd love to work with you on this."
I'd reached out to someone about a project.
I sent them the background.
This was the first line of their reply.
At the end of our first conversation, I asked them why they'd said it.They looked bemused. Shocked, almost.
"Um... because I like to help people."
No other reason? Nothing in the story that connected to something they'd done, or cared about?
No.
They'd just love to work with me on this.
The thing is, they probably wouldn't have needed to share much. One detail. One line that showed they'd actually read what I sent.
Something from my story that touched something in theirs.
It doesn't take much.
Which makes it stranger when it's missing.
