“What would you tell your younger self?”

It’s one of the most popular questions you’ll hear in interviews.

The answers are nearly always reassuring. They give us a warm feeling; a gentle sugary surge.

But this is the problem.

It’s too often a confection; a hindsight-baked fortune cookie: “Take your time”, “Don’t sweat the small stuff”, “Just be happy”.

For something more nutritious and flavorsome, flip it around.

What would your younger self tell you now?

What do they think of the person you’ve become?

What would the 16, 21, 30 year old you make of this person they’re meeting?

What do they see that you don’t?
